In 1944 the Weisser family was living at 1515 Grand Concourse, Bronx, New York. Solomon left his wife Miriam A. Solway Weisser [3].
He was drafted on 9 February 1943 [2] and began his service with the 460th Bombardment Group Group (Heavy). He was transferred to the 885th Bombardment Squadron on 11 September 1944 [4].
He flew eleven special missions with the 885th BS totaling over 91 hours of combat time [5].
He was awarded the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, indicating a double decoration of the same type, and the Purple Heart Medal [6].
