After some nine years of research, I finally am able to publish this website dedicated to the nine American airmen of the 885th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) (Special) who lost their lives on 16 October 1944 while on a secret air supply mission on the mountains of North Italy.

I am researching the Jewish community of Homestead, PA, of which 1st Lt. Jerome Solomon & his family were a part. He was active in the synagogue growing up. The synagogue remembered him in its various war memorials:
